Who is Barbara Gordon?
Barbara Gordon has been living with Myelocytic Leukemia for the last 21 years. She was working as a nurse in New York when she was diagnosed with the disease. Now retired and living in South Florida, she has managed the disease with medication but is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Surprised at the shortage of potential matches for herself, she decided to start the organization to increase the donor base for all ethnic minorities.
How is the organization funded?
To raise money, the organization plans an annual Walk/Race for Awareness as its major fundraising event in conjunction with the Kiwanis Club of Pinecrest/Palmetto Bay. We are also dependent on donations from private individuals and corporations. Due to the organization’s 501 (C) (3) status all donations made are fully tax-deductable.
